What is Deaf GLOW? Deaf GLOW is a group of deaf and hard of hearing folks and their friends serving the Western United States. Deaf GLOW stands for Deaf Gay and Lesbians of the West, thus, we have fondly shortened it to Deaf GLOW. Deaf Glow is associated with the Rainbow Alliance of the Deaf, a national organization for the deaf gay and lesbian population. Deaf GLOW is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) organization, thus all membership fees and donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the tax laws. Purpose of Deaf GLOW Deaf GLOW is here to promote leadership, civic, and educational opportunities. Deaf GLOW provide moral support and social opportunities for deaf and hard of hearing gay and lesbians. Deaf GLOW has over a hundred members, several Organization members and has held several successful conferences. The first Deaf GLOW conference was in Denver, Colorado, in summer 1988. Other conference has been in Houston, Texas; San Jose, California; Seattle, Washington; Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada), San Francisco, California and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Deaf GLOW’s territory We serve all western United State states west of the Mississippi River, along with Alaska, Hawaii, and Western Canada. Can I join Deaf GLOW? Deaf GLOW is open to all deaf and hard of hearing, or fully hearing individuals, and organizations. We do not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, age, handicap, race, nationality and religion preferences. You need to be 21 years old to join.
